Your child’s experiences today will determine their perception, actions and habits as adults.
People often overlook and discredit children when they are young even as early as birth. What we fail to realize is that they are hyperactive processing machines and are in a constant state of learning and experiencing.
The connotation we associate to their experiences will greatly shape their developed understanding of that sound, sight, activity, gestures, mood, food, activity or whatever. It’s amazing how kids will take-on habits of a parent they spend little to no time with yet their mannerisms, tone, personality, speech and expressions will take on that of a parent. This is mainly due to the influence of that parent when the child is very young.
Understanding the science of this is simple, the child is most influenced when they are at their peak neurological development stage and have not yet been tainted by outside influences.
Fear is a great example:
We are all only born with 2 fears, the rest are taught/ learned.
- Loud Noises
However, parents are very good at creating many other fears due to their fear of the child being injured or hurt in some way. Yes, this is often necessary yet far too often it is over amplified and the child loses self confidence due to being scared of everything!
Over protecting, negative affirmation, adverse comparisons and poor connotation towards anything can potentially cause a child to develop a poor association, lack of interest or inherent fear thus discouraging the child.
It is MOST important from birth-puberty to create self confidence, positive perceptions, good personality traits and healthy habits in all aspects of health. (Mental, Physical, Nutritional)
The more we invest into our kids at this age the greater the long term benefits will be. If we teach them character, discipline, kindness, patience, perseverance and self-worth they will take care of themselves and have a much greater chance of success in the challenges they face growing up.
Remember, they need you now more than ever to SHOW them the right way yet allow them to fail, learn and develop as child. Contact us today for more information.
